One of my favourite songs by Elderbrook and Emmit Fenn.
The lyrics of this song are pretty simple, but it's really endearing. To me, it's not necessarily a song that you'd dance to. When I listen to this song, I just feel like staring out and getting lost in my thoughts; it's like listening to your own heartbeat while holding your breath.
It's not as sad as "A Night Like This" but the lyric content are similar in how they want to search for their love. The Cure's song has more grief because you get the sense that they won't have that love again although they have this desire to be with that person again. But "I'll Find My Way To You" seems more optimistic to me. In the moment of the song, there is sadness because they are longing to be with someone, but there's no real indication that it won't happen.
I think the first time I've listened to this song was on the beach at dusk. Exactly the type of environment you'd listen to this song and brood while watching the horizon.
I saw Elderbrook live last month and I was hoping that he'd play this song, but he didn't. It's fine though, hopefully Emmit Fenn will if I get the chance to see him.
