I was a big fan of Chelsea Grin when I was 13-14 years old.
If you are going to give this song a listen: Be aware that this sound can be very intense to listen to.
If you're not familiar with this genre, it's called deathcore. I listened to this band and other similar bands a lot when I was I was younger. So I am familiar with this sound and I was a fan of similar bands. If you think that this song is too much, trust me, there are more intense songs out there.
I remember when this EP came out, there were a lot of mixed reactions. Some people liked it, like me because I was a fan of Chelsea Grin regardless. But some people didn't like this because they thought it was straying away from their sound from their Desolation of Eden days. People thought this song sounded "soft" because of the introduction with the singing. Today, this song is one of their most streamed songs which is funny.
I never got to see this band in its prime. Honestly, I don't think I could go to another deathcore show ever. It was something I was into when I was young when I thought it was cool and edgy. But this subculture of music is something I've been so far removed from for over a decade that it's not enjoyable to me anymore. I know the band is still active, but with no original members. I would have definitely loved to see this band with Alex Koehler back in 2012 or so.
