Paramore - When It Rains

I think I was 11 when I first heard this song.

This record came out in 2007 but I didn't listen to much of the tracks off it then. I know that I was still in elementary school because I would be in the computer lab where we could browse in our free time. And when I was 11, I was the biggest Twilight fan. I watched the movies and read the books. There was this fansite called "Twilighters" and I'd go on it often. It had a music player and that's how I came to know this song.

It's a beautiful song about the narrator's friend and how they're in disbelief how they could take their life. I didn't understand the song much back then. It is a pretty heavy subject for a child. It's a pain that I never had to live with personally. But when I listened to it when I was older, I found the song to be comforting, especially in the pivotal point of my adolescence when people can be so emotionally vulnerable. I know that a lot of people struggle with suicide ideation and bands like Paramore have helped people with dealing with this.

This song is one of my favourites from Paramore and I'll still admire how it offers a perspective from someone that loves you and cares for you very much. You may hear songs how the music vocalizes how much pain life brings and nothing is worth it. And that isn't really great to hear, especially at an impressionable age. So, I think that songs like this is really special and it was to me for a really long time.
